This is a theory to which I personally subscribe, so I hope to see the next chapter play out something like this. (Hopefully it will, because the Armin and Jean interaction was really in-character and believable.)

3) TITLE: Tower of Babel

But in the wake of their new living arrangements, the girls are challenged to see their problems in a new light, and things start to pile up: liquor bottles, hospital visits, credit card bills, and maternity clothes. Sasha is determined to keep together the apartment of people she brought under one roof, even though it comes at a sacrifice. But the cute bald guy at the comedy club thinks she doesn't have to sacrifice a thing: all she has to do is accept a little help.

COMMENTS: So far, this fic is a collection of nine usually-unconnected oneshots. My personal favorites are chapter 8, which is a continuation of the author's recently-completed fic thieves in the night, and chapter 4, which is some hella awesome Mikasa/Annie smut. A fic for femslash fans everywhere.

5) TITLE: Forget the World

COMMENTS: Okay, I'm biased- I requested this fic. But even if I hadn't, I know I still would have loved it. A really neat look at Annie's character, even though we have no evidence that she had any preference for either her human or titan form. Somebody was cool enough to turn my stupid headcanon into a fantastic fic, and for that, it deserves a spot on this list. I only wish it was on AO3 or FFN!

Except for "Keep it On," which I'd rate as "Mature" per AO3 guidelines, these are all sexually explicit.

asmallwave — "Caught"
Armin and Jean are "a thing." Eren doesn't know that, so when he and some other Survey Corps personnel find them in the woods, he thinks Jean's raping Armin. Needless to say, it doesn't go well for Jean after that. And, after they're marched into the mess hall during dinner and have to Explain Themselves To Captain Levi, it doesn't go well for any of them.
     Jean and Armin are absolutely adorable in their clumsy awkwardness, Jean's solicitousness for Armin is sweet, and the smut, while not terribly explicit, is hot — well, until Eren rudely interrupts them, anyway. If embarrassment is your squick, you might want to pass on this one, but I found the ending funny. 3,416 words.

anonymous — "Fucking Eren"
Set early on in training. After fighting with Eren in the mess hall and thinking resentfully about how Eren doesn't deserve Mikasa's devotion, Jean goes off into the woods and tries to beat off to thoughts of Mikasa going down on him. But instead of imagining dark eyes, long black hair, and pale hands, he finds himself imagining green eyes, short brown hair, and tanned hands… 1,124 words.

anonymous — "The Perks of Being A Levi Flower"
Prompt: "Levi is a flower that Carla bought for Eren for his room and he watches Eren masturbate…. I have no excuse for this and I am not sorry." Neither am I. You get all that and "plantacles" too. Grade-A crack that is also quite hot. And in character, insofar as photosynthesizing!Levi can be in character. 861 words.
     ETA: There's a second fill there now called "Double Trouble," 1,726 words, also quite hot and quite funny.

gaygaygaygaygay0 — "Keep it On"
Eren/Jean, with Jean POV. Things are getting hot and heavy between them until Jean starts to take his pants off — and Eren protests. The reason? Nudity reminds of him titans and is therefore a boner-killer. The dialogue is perfect: "Eren, if you haven't noticed, I, unlike Titans, HAVE A DICK. It's pressing RIGHT against your LEG, and it's telling me that you're being fucking stupid right now." "Well, tell your dick to shut the fuck up because we're not having sex naked." Fortunately, Marco's there afterward to suggest a workaround to Jean. 909 words.

Armin's on cleaning duty in an unused area of the barracks. He sees a clump of dust roll under a bed, chases it, and finds himself stuck there. And then he learns that this part of the barracks, and especially this bed, aren't as "unused" as he thought. Featuring Reiner/Bertholdt, Eren/Levi, Eren/Erwin/Levi (with the funniest line of dialogue you will ever see attributed to Erwin, I promise you), and, last but not least, Ymir/Christa. Poor Armin. Lucky us. 1,726 words.

Armin sneaks into Eren's dungeon quarters after the trial and, after a joyful reunion hug, shamefacedly asks him to fuck him. Unsurprisingly for a couple of virginal teenagers, both of them are terrible at sex. Hilariously terrible. Sex in their case is a series of painful mishaps that culminates in them getting stuck together and yelling at one another. Which Levi overhears and decides to investigate. And then it gets even funnier (and more embarrassing for our boys). 3,265 words.

Variabile — "Get It Done"
On a rainy night toward the end of training, Jean and Eren are sharing a small field tent. Eren can't sleep because he has a boner. Asking Jean to go take a walk doesn't go over well. Jean, not knowing what the problem is, offers to help because Eren's his fellow trainee and you don't let your fellow trainee down (so to speak). And it's aawwwwkwaaaard.
     The POV switches back and forth, they're both completely in character, and their dialogue and thoughts are screamingly funny: Jean really, really, doesn't want Eren to cry, because if Eren starts crying then there's a more than zero chance that Jean will start crying too (he's just built like that, alright, he's sensitive and his mum says that's okay so fuck you) and that, that would be the worst, like, the only way to save themselves from the embarrassment of that situation would be a suicide pact. Oh, and there's some hotness, too. 5,729 words.

saekimchi — "Soggy Biscuit"
If you don't know what the title refers to, Wikipedia is your friend (or maybe it isn't). Eren, Jean, Connie, Reiner, and Bertholdt are the ones playing the game. Trust me, the ending is not going to be quite what you think it is. I LOL'ed all the way through, beginning to end. 1,483 words.

COMMENTS: The way this fic is written in sections (years ago, later, even later to name the first few) is appealing to me (if I'm honest, it's because it reminds me of my preferred writing style). It gives us a look at how Marco's death could affect Jean's relationships in the future, and while Jean misses Marco, he doesn't pine over him. This is refreshing. A good fic for both Jean/Marco and Jean/Eren shippers.

2) TITLE: Necessities

SUMMARY: Erwin will take his opportunities where he can get them.

COMMENTS: I read this and enjoyed it when it was first posted on the kinkmeme. So I was pleased when I went to check out this author (per an anon's suggestion) and found that they were the A!A. This fic does involve dubcon, so be aware of that before reading.

COMMENTS: This is a short Eremika fic I found on FFN by searching for the most-reviewed fics in the SNK section. I found a fic by this author called andromeda in a thimble, which I will probably read in its entirety eventually, and will most likely rec here. What I’ve read of it has been very good, and this semi-related fic is no exception.

2) TITLE: Wolves of the North
AUTHOR: ShinjiShazaki at AO3
SUMMARY: Christa Renz had long hoped to be of some use to her kingdom, her king. She had worked diligently to this end for years, and was surprised when something seemed to come of it and she was summoned by King Reiss. She was not expecting to be asked to deliver a letter.

She will expect what the letter says even less.

COMMENTS: This is my favorite fic in the entire fandom. I was initially skeptical of the AU (“Werewolves? How is the author going to pull off werewolves?”), but that’s only because I hadn’t read anything else by this author. At this point, I’ve read every word they’ve written for SNK, and have total faith in their abilities to write any AU they please, and write it very well. A really worthwhile read.

3) TITLE: A Multitude of Drops

SUMMARY: Ever since the beginning of time, Marco Bodt and Jean Kirschstein have been doomed soulmates - in every reality out there, either Jean or Marco meets an untimely death or they were unable to meet/know one another and live their whole lives knowing something (someone) is missing. They are eternally star-crossed in all realities.

I’m in love with the author’s writing style, which is consistently funny and always keeps things interesting. This is why I’ve stuck with this fic even though it hasn’t updated for a while. Even the short length isn’t a problem, because it’s such an enjoyable read regardless.

5) TITLE: This Feeling I’ll Forget

SUMMARY: Levi suffers from short term memory loss, and while that makes it hard for him to find love, he finds Erwin.

It helps that it's about my OTP, but this fic, with its abundance of wham lines and interesting characterization, is one of my favorite fics I've read in this fandom.

2) TITLE: As Much As I Ever Could

COMMENTS: Unlike anything I've read before, this fic focuses on the idea that Levi and Historia's roles will eventually be reversed, with Historia coming to power. After chapter 56, I've seen a few people talking about this concept, and I was very glad to see someone write it. One of my personal favorites on this list.
